The UOW Schools & Parents Engagement Team is passionate about helping students make informed choices about their futures. We offer personalized programs designed to inspire and guide students through their high school journey, providing valuable insights along the way.

Activities, events, and programs

Our school engagement initiatives encompass three key offerings:

  • Senior Student Support Activities provide intensive and targeted programs for Year 12 students.
  • On campus activities such as UOW Discovery Days, which offers three separate events at selected UOW campuses that offer taster sessions for students in years 8, 10 and 12.
  • In-school, on campus and virtual activities tailored for various stages of the school year, spanning across different disciplines such as STEM, CAPA, English, HSIE and Languages.

The UOW Schools Engagement team offers a variety of activities and events designed to support your students—both on campus and at your school. From UOW Discovery Days and Early Admission workshops to Year 10 subject selection presentations, Uni 101 sessions, and personalised consultations, we provide valuable insights to help students navigate their post-high school options.

Year 12 UOW In-School Presentation

(Online option available for rural & regional schools) 

Available Term one, 2025 (one period workshop length) or Term four, 2025 for ‘New Year 12' cohort 

This workshop is dedicated to new Year 12 students interested in UOW degrees and covers applying to UOW and the various considerations to explore to set students up for success. In this workshop we will explore the following content: 

  • UOW degrees  
  • UOW specialist programs & opportunities
  • Alternative pathways to university 
  • Understanding UOW Campuses, support networks, uni life and accommodation
  • Unpacking UOW scholarship opportunities and financial considerations 
  • Early Admission awareness and preview 
  • Importance of balance, sleep & wellbeing 

Optional skills-based activities: Schools can choose to add on the following skills-based activities to your workshop or book a separate date and time in addition to the above listed UOW-focused topics. (Timing, school cohort size & UOW staffing dependent). 

Activities available: Goal Setting, Time management & prioritisation strategies; understanding learning styles and neuromyths – How we best learn & note-taking strategies for success.

Year 12 UOW Early Admission Application Workshop

(Online option available for rural & regional schools)  

Available mid-May – early August, 2025 (20 min version or one period workshop lengths available) 

In this workshop we will explore the following content: 

  • Understanding the UOW Early Admission program & eligibility 
  • What UOW degrees are available
  • Personal hardship impacts and how these are considered
  • How the HSC is assessed
  • The four Indicators of Success questions and how to answer these (Activity)
  • Student support, scholarships, student life and accommodation 

Year 12 UOW Early Admission Drop-In Support Sessions 

Available Terms two and three, 2025 - Timing: one or two hour block 

Drop-in sessions offer one-on-one student consultations if students require more individualised support and feedback.

A UOW staff member can set up in a school library, allocated office or other location in your school for a specified time period, and students can either book in or drop in to chat informally with our team.  

Year 11 In-School Workshop

(Available online for rural and regional schools)

Available Terms one and two, 2025 (one period workshop length) 

This workshop is designed to engage and inform Year 11 students who have recently commenced their HSC studies, ensuring they are empowered with knowledge on how to best launch into their Year 11 and 12 studies.

In this interactive session we will explore the following content: 

  • UOW degrees, campuses, support networks and university student life 
  • Understanding UOW scholarships, university financial considerations and opportunities
  • Accommodation options 
  • Alternative pathways to university 

Optional skills-based activities: Schools can choose to add on the following skills-based activities to your workshop or book a separate date and time in addition to the above listed UOW-focused topics. (Timing, school cohort size & UOW staffing dependent).

Year 10 In-School Workshops

(Available online for rural and regional schools)

Available Term two & three, 2025 (one period workshop length) 

A workshop designed to empower Year 10 students to start thinking about how their HSC subject selection decisions can influence their post-school career paths by exploring the following content: 

  • How is university different to school?
  • What can be studied at UOW?
  • HSC subject selection considerations and understanding assumed & recommended studies
  • Alternative pathways to university 
  • Career planning and using strengths and passion areas to unlock careers 

Optional skills-based activities: Schools can choose to add on the following skills-based activities to your workshop or book a separate date and time in addition to the above UOW-focused topics. (Timing, school cohort size & UOW staffing dependent).

Year 10 Subject Selection Events & School Expos  

Available Terms two and three, 2025 

Where available, UOW can attend your in-school Year 10 subject selection events or expos for students, parents & carers. UOW is available to provide a stall or table set up at your school event, and/or a presentation about UOW degrees, subject selection and a breakdown of assumed and recommended HSC subjects that align with UOW degrees. Please be in touch with our team to discuss event logistics, dates, and requests.
